My new couch – Ektorp

This past weekend, I was finally able to purchase a couch for my home. YAY! I am so very excited to finally have a couch and have something to sit on. I was growing tired of standing in the kitchen, sitting on the floor or at the dining room table. I, of course went to my favorite place – IKEA!! I thought long and hard about an Ikea couch as opposed to a higher price furniture store. I was going to go with a gorgeous $1600+ couch that I LOVED from Z Gallerie but settled on the most economical choice for right now.I may still invest in that couch but I am happy with my choice and my deciding factors for Ikea’s Ektorp couch.

Now, I already knew that I wanted a white couch. As you may know I do have two children but they are both teenagers, which now that I think about it is probably worse than having toddlers when it comes to spilling things but can you say Scotch guard!

  • I liked the washable feature of the Ektorp couch covers.
  • Extremely economic.
  • Gave me two options for a white couch cover (100% cotton or a linen/rayon blend).
  • I could take it home same day.
  • The pillows are soft and plush yet firm.

Now, I love putting Ikea items together. The only thing I wasn’t looking forward to was having to fight the cushions into their covers but I prevailed. 🙂 I am extremely happy at how the living room/library is panning out. Next up…media cabinet and television.

The start of the process…Woosaaaah

Finished result. 🙂 (after the big cushion fight)

Live and love in positivity,

Congratulations on conquering your cushions! Great lookin’ couch. Years back I lived in my first apartment alone for a while without a couch. I sat on this huge stuffed alligator I’ve had since I was six, and leaned against the wall. Needless to say, not too comfortable!

Holey cats, that’s a lot of stuffed animals! Let no one ever say you do things in halves.
Gem, we have a lot in common. I had so many stuffed animals in my bed when I was a kid that I could barely fit in there. They all had names. And birthdays! But we depart ways, because I apparently gave myself stuffed-animal overload. I have a rule: no stuffed animal gifts! I do still have a few, very special ones from when I was young, but that’s it.

Love the couch, really would like to get one in white but haven’t been brave enough – my kids are just getting into their teens so think, spillage and constant reminders to take their clothes upstairs. This is such a great post.

Thank you!! I was a bit scared but felt somewhat okay since my children are teenager but how about my 14 year old sat a bag of popcorn on it a few days after it was up. Smh now I have an orange grease stain on the chaise part. I should have figured that having teenager is no different than having toddlers. Lol!! But it’s not too bad and I am crocheting an afghan for that side. 🙂
